Exercising during pregnancy – facts and myths

Exercising during pregnancy stirs up a lot of emotions and even more myths. At Fabryka Ruchu in Rzeszów we approach the topic calmly and responsibly — because activity during pregnancy, done wisely and with your doctor's approval, can be your ally.

The most common myths

  • "Exercise during pregnancy is dangerous" — in a healthy, uncomplicated pregnancy with no contraindications, moderate activity is usually safe and even recommended. Your doctor's approval is essential.
  • "You have to eat for two" — a myth; the quality of your meals matters, not a double portion.
  • "If I didn't train before, I shouldn't start now" — you can begin with gentle movement, but especially carefully and under a specialist's supervision.
  • "You should train your abs hard" — we strengthen the deep muscles and work on breathing.

Facts worth remembering

  • Physical activity is very important — it helps both you and your baby function better. It matters at every stage of pregnancy, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
  • Activity can support your well-being, circulation, sleep and preparation for birth.
  • Moderation and listening to your body are the foundation — this is not the time for personal records.
  • Hydration, sensible intensity and regular breaks matter more than how hard you push.

Every pregnancy is different. What helps one person may be contraindicated for another — which is why we make decisions individually.
