Pilates – what it gives and who should do it
Pilates is training that builds a strong center, better posture and greater body awareness — and that's exactly why it works for so many different people. At Fabryka Ruchu in Rzeszów, I run Pilates classes in small groups where the quality of each movement matters more than the rush.
What does Pilates give you?
Pilates is much more than "ab exercises." It's whole-body work based on control, breathing and precision. Regular classes bring many benefits:
- A strong core — stable, powerful deep muscles of the trunk and pelvis
- Better posture — less tension in the neck and lower back
- Greater mobility — freer, smoother movement in the joints
- Better balance — more confident control of your body
- Injury prevention — stronger stabilisation protects the spine and joints
- Body awareness — you learn to feel and control movement rather than doing it on autopilot
Tip: in Pilates, quality matters more than the number of repetitions. It's better to perform a few movements consciously and precisely than twenty in a rush.
Who should do Pilates?
The shortest answer is: almost everyone, regardless of fitness level. Pilates works especially well for:
- Office workers — it relieves a tense spine and counteracts the effects of sitting
- Women after pregnancy — as part of a conscious, gradual return to activity (always after consulting a doctor)
- Athletes — it strengthens stabilisation and supports recovery between workouts
- Seniors — it safely improves balance, mobility and movement control
- People at any level — from beginners to the advanced
Is Pilates for me?
Pilates is safe and accessible, but like any form of movement it's worth adapting to you. If you're dealing with a specific condition or injury, or you're in the middle of rehabilitation, consult your doctor or physiotherapist first and let your instructor know. That way we can choose the right exercise variations for you.
You don't need experience or a flexible body — you'll learn everything in class, at your own pace.
